This thread's aim is to showcase a photographer's work in depth, so
that we can all follow each others work, proccess, progress with a more
detailed view. There are great artists here on Flickr and it would be
nice if we can all discover them and recognize their value. So, each
week the administrators will choose one member as the "Photographer of
the week" and write a critical review of his/her work at this thread,
showcasing some of his/her photos for everybody to get in touch with
them. This person would be able, if desired, to add up to five photos
of his/her pool to the thread, different from the ones the admins had
chosen. And, everybody who feels moved by those images are free to
comment on those chosen photos (not on this thread, but on the photos,
always!!!). It's a deserved recognition for the hard work everybody
here is doing.

It's called "Innocent Blood" and its author, *Pierpol* is our chosen Phtographer of the Week.
Pierpol has a wide collection of impressive photos at his photostream.
When you browse through his works, you can easily find out that all
themes are of his interest, from an imense landscape to an ordinary
object.
And all of them are transformed when captured by Pierpol's lenses:
they're turned into works of art and, more than this, they become
intensive compositions demanding more than a quick look from the
viewer. Pierpol's photos are an invite for reflexion. Many of them are
accompanied by titles that demand a deep thought on life, existance,
humanity, love, freedom, sadness. Everything is out there to become
Pierpol's theme and everything can become an expression of any of our
human miseries.
By now you readers might already have figured out that Pierpol can
capture almost everything and that his main intention is to use his
photos and means of expression. Yes, he's a expressionistic artist, and
one of the good ones.
His expressive, intensive vein turns every subject into a dramatic
explosion of colours so vivid that almost blind the viewer with their
strength. The pictorial composition is as strong as the message Pierpol
is willing to state. Therefore the effects on colours, the use of wide,
deep scenes as well as minimalistic, small, tiny little objects.
But it's when capturing the human figure that Pierpol gathers the
ultmost success on his dramatic project of expressing all our
philosophic, existentialistic, profound questions. Then, man is turned
into flesh and blood, into his most fragile essence and stands all
alone with his own suffering.
The meaning of life hides on the ordinary and the extraordinary, on the
high and the low, on nature and on objects, on people and on their
questioning, disturbed souls. Without being religious, Pierpol appeals
to everybody's heart and spirit with his magnificent images, inviting
us all to admire then and, most important, to look deep inside
ourselves.
So, let us all admire the precious work of our photographer of the week.
You can comment on his photos that where chosen here or you can find
some hidden treasures on his photostream, or you can writte a kind
message congratulating Pierpol for his good work.
It's great to have you with us, Pierpol!!! Congrats on your beautiful photos!!!

Now, if Pierpol would kindly tell us a bit more about:
- his traject when photography is concerned
- his work
- his process on composing pictures
- his main aims when photographing
- his inspirations and goals
It would be awesome and we would be able to know a bit more on him and his work.

First of all, i want to thank you, Alessandra, you did a real deep
investigating job, looking above the appearance, in the profoundness of
what i was trying to express.
You understood that i was trying to rummage on each subject (whatever
it is) to unearth something i could call "esthetic emotions" and no
more "pictures".
By the way, i do not really feel that i am a photographer so i'm
honoured (yes, yes...) that you selected me as the photographer of the
week...
The spirit of what you did is so rare on flickr (the one i know) such
kind of sensitivity, sincerity, cleverness and quality to express it by
words (and willing too!) that i'm very very surprised and very very
pleased too ^_^
I see too many people running away on Flickr, trying to catch
everything around, thinking that they could fill them with the surface
of pics/words and passing trough real vision/expression of art emotion.
And you did the contrary, took time to do a real bright focus on only one people, to find out what you was feeling about.
I hope i deserve such an attention!
Chapeau bas. You've got talent.
Les plus belles surprises sont inattendues...
Merci pour le cadeau, il est trop beau :-)

You treat the water and stone and sky and even flesh like a canvas. Yum!
I see the metalic hues of anodized aluminum and titanium crystals. Many
stories are evoked by these. I like a photo that makes my imagination
spin a narrative around it, or makes me wonder. These would be fabulous
as story illustrations...if only I knew the story...
Two thumbs up but wish I had more thumbs, dude! ; ) Awesome and inspiring.

I very like what you write about what i have done ^_^
It makes me understand better why i did these pictures.
You are right, i love catching people with a visual story which send them into their imagination...
And i did for pictures of others i like, with some words.
Here is photographers that like it enough to put it into theirs descriptions.
Love the artistic use of photography that takes your powerful work into an area that lies between the media.
This is a wonderful way to be introduced to some of the amazing work
that somehow slips by in Flickr... I'm off to look at your stream now!

Not just photographs but works of art; Pierpol's image are almost
3-dimensional, akin to sculpture with at the same time a sense of
movement. The colours are intense, the compositions strong, powerful,
tough and sinewy, essentially masculine without being agressive, yet at
the same time raw and sensitive. Their message is profound, and I feel
as if Pierpol is baring his soul. I could never tire of looking at
these images, as there is always something new to discover, something
to stimulate my own imagination. A truly great achievement.

It's difficult for me to survive under this wave of kind comments but i cling, i cling... ;-)
It give me good motivation to go on. Sometimes i think "à quoi bon tout
ça", in english : it is worthing your while? Amateur photography is
quite a vain art...
So, i do pictures on impulse.
Something catch my attention in my day life, i look for framing and if
i like what i see, it's in the box. It's quite an instinctive way, on
the moment.
You have to be present at the world, fast to do composition (it's in the stream of your life) and have always a camera with you.
For instance i was climbing last saturday.
At the end of my root, a quite difficult one, i thought that a picture
of my tired arms could be great. I gave my camera to my partner, saying
how to frame with the rock behind, did some posing that i tought
expressive and after some shoots we came back to climbing.
When i did post production it appears to me that the framing you see
and the B&W was the best way to express my little story and that's
it!
Let me know if what i write interest you. I have really no idea...
Have a good WE :-)

You are not only a photgrapher, but a creator as well. You look at the
photgraph that you take and enhance the beauty of what you see. You
take every point that stands out and you make it jump through our
screens instead. Their is no flatness to any of your work, you give it
depth and you make it breath.
You deserve to have this first spot and your work will inspire others,
like myself, to look not only at what you see in your lens, but what
you can see that is not their as well.
Thank you for sharing yoyr art with all of us on this site

What you said is so just!
It's formidable that you feel that looking at my pics!
I do not like, i hate flatness!
I try to see more in each situation, to extract it and to share my vision with others.
For instance, i won't say to you where i took this picture and won't show you how it was from the shoot (very flatness) ;-)
Falling Roped Party
I'm glad if i inspired somebody, i didn't expect that at all!
I think i "create" for sharing my interior world with others so here i'm with angels ^_^

As i already said i do not feel photographer. I feel myself more like a opportunist in visual emotions...
I do not have one technic particularly. I use the one i feel effective to give my message.
For instance, here, use of big zoom, fast speed and desaturation to capture and concentrate on the very magic moment :
Dancing in the Dark
Or here 17 photos stitched together on 180° to give you the feeling of being in :
Primaeval Trunk Edge
Or here cut out to magnify orange colour :
Offering
Or here portrait with painting technique to give smoothness to her kind moment :
In me
Or HDR to the strangeness of the mood :
Hooks of life or sunlight straight?
And, i do not like a lot to do same things even if they are beautiful and very well done...
Most of all i like to do pictures that nobody did before.
You'll tell me if i succeed in ?
For instance with these :
Sculptures de Sable
When the vertical one meets the horizontal one...
Guess who's coming this morning?
So i try new things regularly, like B&W, even if i prefer a lot colours, but sometimes...:-)
Tough job to move the world...
And for all these pictures, i was passing through with a camera and
stopped a while to catch the mystery of these light moments...
Have a nice day !
